Ted Cameron is a sound technician, classical musician, and composer/arranger based in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. With a career rooted in both artistry and technical expertise, he bridges the worlds of performance and sound with precision and creativity.
Ted is currently studying Sound Recording at McGill University. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Specialization in Music Performance from Concordia University (Class of 2025), and an ACS in Audio Recording Technology from Vanier College, where he graduated in 2018. Since then, he has worked extensively with classical ensembles, solo artists, and theatre groups—as well as artists from a range of other genres—across Montreal, building a reputation as a thoughtful and reliable collaborator behind the console.
As a performer, Ted plays oboe, English horn, and bassoon. He has performed with the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and Sinfonia de l’Ouest, and is a founding member of a professional oboe trio based in the West Island. His musical training includes studies with Joelle Amar, Stewart Grant, and Lindsay Roberts.
Ted is also deeply committed to community music and youth development. A longtime member and now Vice President of the West Island Youth Symphony Orchestra, he plays an active role in its administration, artistic planning, and outreach. His behind-the-scenes leadership helps sustain one of the most vibrant youth orchestras in Quebec, while his front-line presence as an educator empowers the next generation of musicians.
He teaches oboe and bassoon at l'École secondaire de la Cité-des-Jeunes and St-Thomas High School, and maintains a thriving private studio. He also leads double reed clinics for schools and ensembles across the Montreal region.
Beyond the stage and studio, Ted handcrafts and sells professional-quality oboe and English horn reeds. He is currently accepting new students and reed clients—don’t hesitate to get in touch.
